Remarks of the Spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in South Sudan
2018/07/11

The Chinese Embassy has noticed that Colonel Lam Paul Gabriel, SPLA-IO Deputy Military Spokesperson, has made some false allegations about China and South Sudan relations in his Press Release dated on July 10, 2018.

From June 26 to July 10, 2018, the Chinese Ministry of Defense hosted the First China-Africa Defense and Security Forum in China, attended by senior defense leaders and top military representatives from 50 African countries and the African Union, including General Gabriel Jok Riak, the Chief of Defense of SPLA. The forum aims to deepen the strategic partnership and defense cooperation between China and Africa, so as to promote peace and stability in Africa. All programs and activities of the forum are open and transparent.

China has consistently supported and actively participated in the peace process of South Sudan. China is committed to working together with the international community and regional countries and organizations including IGAD to push all South Sudanese parties to the conflict to reach a final peace agreement and restore the lasting peace and stability in South Sudan at an early date. China will never involve itself in any activities which could derail the peace process in South Sudan. The allegations by the SPLA-IO Deputy Military Spokesperson are totally groundless, irrational and irresponsible speculation.
